In 2007, our corporate “Waste Not” philosophy prompted us to enter the bio fuel business, enabling us to repurpose the excess sawdust and wood fibers from our hardwood flooring and wood products manufacturing operations into a clean-burning, energy-efficient source of bio fuel. We invested in building a modern, highly automated and efficient facility that is equipped to transform the high volume of raw materials we produce into premium grade pellets.

Owner and CEO of Somerset, Steve Merrick, has always believed in investing in technology, equipment, and highly qualified, dedicated, quality-conscious employees. The Somerset Pellet facility is one of the nicest mills in the U.S. with state-of-the art equipment and good people to run it.

According to Paul Stringer, V.P. Sales & Marketing for Somerset, “One of the great things about marketing and selling Somerset Pellets, is that we are blessed with having a clean, uncontaminated source of raw materials that makes excellent quality pellets. As a vertically-integrated company, we control all the hardwoods internally—kiln dried 100% hardwoods—which enables us to produce pellets that are clean burning and of the highest quality. We continually get great feedback from happy customers, which certainly helps makes the sales job easier.”

Our efficient manufacturing line can produce between 50,000 and 70,000 bags per week!
